About Us
On Common Ground (OCG) is an international consulting company which specializes in the management of social issues in the resource industries with a particular focus on mining. OCG comprises a small group of professionals bringing together complimentary expertise in the social, cultural, economic and political realities of resource development and the practical problems encountered on the ground.
The company has offices in Vancouver, Canada and Lima, Peru, and benefits from the combined backgrounds of its principals and associates who have extensive experience in the Americas and Africa, as well as experience in Australasia, central Asian countries, and Europe.
OCG has undertaken social assessment, community and stakeholder engagement, international best practice or compliance reviews, management capacity reviews and sustainable development guidance since 1998 for dozens of projects in the mining, oil and gas, power, and infrastructure industries.
OCG principals and associates have conducted conflict assessments, provided mediation and management for conflict situations, and facilitated multistakeholder processes. They have also designed and implemented participative processes for community development, capacity building and social development programs, and brokered/coached in the construction of healthy partnerships and relationships.
While most clients are private sector companies or international financial institutions (The World Bank Group, private sector banks, etc.), consulting has also been undertaken for international aid agencies, developing country governments, indigenous communities, and NGOs.
